20th Annual Golf Classic Raises Nearly $70,000 for TLC

Rockville, Maryland—On Monday, June 6, nearly 100 golfers, friends and supporters celebrated the 20th anniversary of golfing for TLC and raised over $70,000 at the 20th Annual TLC Golf Classic. The event benefits TLC—The Treatment and Learning Centers, a local, private non-profit organization that provides educational, therapeutic and vocational services to over 2,100 children and adults each year.

Since 1991, the Golf Classic has raised more than $1.6 million dollars for TLC. Funds raised provide vital scholarships for students to attend TLC’s Katherine Thomas School, subsidies for consumers with minimal or no health insurance who receive outpatient services, technology upgrades and other critical resources. Over the last 20 years, TLC has grown from a small organization approximately 200 staff at three locations supporting success for tens of thousands of individuals and their families.

Golfers played in a 4-player step aside scramble format at Bretton Woods under gorgeous blue skies in Germantown. The winning foursome was from Sandy Spring Bank and included Fred Billig, Peter Hickling, Bob Grandfield, and Ross Rappaport. Bretton Woods also welcomed 36 students and 15 staff from KTS Middle School for a morning of complimentary miniature golf, lunch and an afternoon swim.

Following tournament play, golfers enjoyed cocktails and dinner as well as a live and silent auction. Tournament Chairman Jim Dixon served as the evening’s emcee and states, “My son, Alex graduated a few years ago from KTS and has truly flourished since graduation. For the support, dedication, and life-changing education KTS gave my son and our family I will be forever thankful and 100% committed to helping this community of kids at KTS.” Volunteers include the event planning committee of John Bogasky, James Feldman, Brian Frank, Jeff Richards, Jim Dixon, Jason Apolenis, Michael Cogan and more than 15 event day volunteers.
