TLC Annual Awards Recognize Outstanding Staff

Rockville, MD—TLC—The Treatment and Learning Centers recognized the efforts of outstanding staff with this year’s annual awards. TLC is a private non-profit that provides educational, therapeutic and employment services to improve lives and expand possibilities for children and adults with disabilities.

“Honoring TLC’s extraordinary staff is one of my favorite responsibilities.  We have a collection of dedicated, hard working individuals who are very talented at helping those TLC serves,” said Patricia Ritter, PhD, TLC executive director.

Meridith McLane (Washington, DC), occupational therapist for TLC’s Outpatient Services; Kathy Dow-Burger (Silver Spring), speech-language pathologist at TLC’s Katherine Thomas School (KTS); and Kathleen Gould (Germantown), KTS high school special education teacher, received Outstanding Staff Awards.  Nominated by their peers, recipients of this award have demonstrated outstanding performance in their department, meeting a high level of enthusiasm, energy, consumer relations, competence and attitude. 
 
Sherri Stocklin (Gaithersburg), an employment specialist for TLC’s Outcomes Service for adults with disabilities, received the Meritorious Service Award, also peer nominated, as the staff member who has done the most to further the overall operation of TLC in meeting its objectives.

Debbie Ezrin (Gaithersburg), TLC development director since 2006, received the distinguished Lucie R. Coker Award.  Ezrin was nominated by members of TLC’s Leadership Team for innovative and outstanding contributions to the services of TLC.

Bonnie Lawhorn (Gaithersburg) marketing coordinator, and Shawna Page (Frederick) KTS preschool coordinator and speech-language pathologist, were honored with the Richard J. Pavlin Leadership Award for demonstrating strong leadership characteristics and their abilities to lead people, resulting in a significant impact to TLC’s mission and vision.

Dave Boblits (Manchester), IT and facilities director, Debbie Ezrin (Gaithersburg), development director; Kristin Fletcher (Greenbelt), marketing and communications director; Bonnie Lawhorn (Gaithersburg), marketing coordinator; and Tracie Trilling (Boyds), development and volunteer coordinator, all members of TLC’s Website Development Team, received the Teamwork Award  for TLC’s new website (designed and built by Washington DC-based LookThink, LLC) which launched on April 30.
