Red Flags in Fine Motor Skills Development
Tuesday, April 18, 2017, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
When should a child be able to hold a pencil? At what age should a child be able to write their name? This workshop will help teachers and caregivers answer these questions and recognize typical fine-motor skill development and motor milestones for preschoolers. Common fine-motor challenges in preschoolers and their causes will be identified. Practical strategies and activities that teachers can use to improve fine-motor skills within the classroom will be addressed.
Toilet Training Made Easy
Thursday, April 27, 2017, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Sally Neuberger, LCSW, Licensed Social Worker, TLC. Professionals will be given specific steps they can use in the classroom to help children master toileting skills. Evaluating a child’s readiness as well as the parent’s motivation will be discussed along with this step-by-step guide to toilet training success.
Tuesday, May 2, 2017, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Professionals at the preschool – elementary school level will be given information to help children in the classroom understand and appreciate the uniqueness of others. Participants will receive practical strategies to help encourage tolerance in the classroom as well as strategies to counter intolerance.
How To Encourage Oral Expression in Young Children
Wednesday, May 10, 2017, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Professionals will be given information and practical tips on ways to expand children’s language skills. Participants will develop strategies and techniques such as turn taking, imitation, building/scaffolding, connecting nonverbally and pretending.
