Camp Bongo – An experiential learning camp for students in grades 2 – 7.
June 26 – June 30, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Getting GRIT through STEAM! (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) During this week-long camp, students will learn the value of perseverance through literature and STEAM (science, technology, engineering and math) We will focus on an inspirational story about a girl who learns to overcome and even celebrate her failures. This philosophy will help students throughout their school years, career, and life in general. Students will complete hands on ELA based activities– retelling, comparing, cause and effect, character evaluation, and vocabulary. Additionally, students will complete STEAM activities related to the story as well as others as they engage in the science, technology, arts, mathematical and engineering design process and they work both individually and on teams to problem solve.
August 14 – August 18, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
In the morning, students ignite their passion for learning through a variety of multi-sensory academic activities as well as having an opportunity to practice problem solving and executive functioning skills. Every afternoon, students have the opportunity to enhance their learning within our community while exploring the awesome resources of the Washington, DC area through field trips and special guest visitors. These afternoons are also perfect opportunities to work on social skills in a supported setting.
