Our parents comes from a diverse geographical area that includes Maryland, Northern Virginia and Washington, DC. Unlike a traditional school PTA, there are no PA dues–all new parents are automatically members, and even if you can’t attend every meeting, you can still contribute in any number of ways.
We encourage all parents to sign up for the KTSPA or the KTHSPA Yahoo group for important announcements, news and other information at http://groups.yahoo.com.
One of our favorite things to do is solicit spring proposals for teacher “grants” that can be used to purchase supplies, reading materials, equipment or other everyday needs on teachers’ wish lists. KTS PA fundraisers have led to large-scale technology upgrades, including SmartBoards in every classroom and new teacher laptops, along with other large ticket items like a new piano for the music department and octagonal picnic tables. We also publish the KTS PA Bongo News three times a year.
The KTS Parents Association is a committed team of parents that does everything from volunteering in the classroom and planning social activities to organizing book fairs and producing a school newsletter, along with a full scale annual school auction, the Parent’s Soiree.
If your son or daughter is an alumni or soon to graduate, we encourage you to join the KTS Alumni Association and sign up for the KTS alumni listserv to stay in the network. This Yahoo group (ktsALUMS@yahoogroups.com) is for KTS alumni, KTHS seniors, and KTS staff. If your child attended any KTS program for as little as one year, you are eligible to join. You can join by sending an email to ktsALUMSemail@example.com.
Your donation today can provide direct support to the educational needs of our students to help ensure their success.
