An occupational therapist and speech-language pathologist lead this fun-filled, small group experience for children. The program runs for six weeks, and participants may register for the Tuesday group, the Thursday group, or both groups. Sessions are held outdoors and will focus on skills related to:
• Self-regulation and sensory processing
• Visual-spatial processing
• Abstract thinking, problem solving and sequencing
• Socialization and interaction
• Play skills
Local parks visited may include: Meadowside Nature Center, Cabin John Park, Black Hills Regional Park, Schaeffer Farm, Locust Grove Nature Center, Woodley Gardens Park and Germantown Park (subject to change). Parents will provide transportation to the selected park. Current occupational therapy and speech-language evaluation reports or a current IEP are required for admission.
Speech Language Program (Ages 3-7)
Designed for young children who have identified challenges in communication, small groups are led by licensed Speech-Language Pathologists and assistants. Communication skills are addressed in a group setting. A current speech-language evaluation report or a current IEP is required for admission. PLUS! An occupational therapist will provide camp activities as well as consultation with speechlanguage pathologists several times each week to foster fine-motor, gross-motor and visual-spatial skill development.
