As I write this, I am watching my son participate in and enjoy all aspects of the 5th birthday party of a classmate. He’s in a gymnasium playing relay races, soccer and other social games. He’s relaxed and has a big smile on his face. All of this seemed out of reach two years ago. At the 3rd birthday party of a different friend, we recognized that our son was not performing at the level of his peers. He would not participate in circle time or games. He watched from a distance or ran around in circles. He cried when the candles were lit and the singing began. He didn’t talk to the other children.
We sought help at the Treatment and Learning Center and it was the best decision we ever made. Two years of treatment, which included occupational therapy, Floortime and interaction group, was the catalyst for him overcoming these obstacles. From the beginning, they understood our son’s underlying difficulties. They demonstrated knowledgeable insights about his development and they genuinely cared about him. That was evident during the first phone call, upon entering the waiting room and during every treatment session. My son felt understood, safe and loved there. That allowed him to thrive.
We are whole-heartedly thankful to TLC. It is rare to find a place which provides such a high level of professionalism, expertise and true concern and love for the children with whom they work.
