Welcome to Our Lower & Middle School!
The Katherine Thomas School (KTS) Lower and Middle School Programs serve students in kindergarten through 8th grade with speech/language impairment, language and learning disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments that affect their learning. We address the individual needs of each student to facilitate success at home, school, and in the community. The staff to student ratio is an average of one to six but can be as low as one to two in some programs with an integrated team approach.

Plan de estudios
Todas las lecciones y actividades están impregnadas de experiencias apropiadas para el desarrollo y basadas en el lenguaje. Los estudiantes son instruidos utilizando un plan de estudios de nivel de grado y el apoyo de las intervenciones basadas en la investigación centrada en sus necesidades individuales. Las habilidades básicas de lectura, expresión escrita y matemáticas se enseñan de acuerdo con las necesidades específicas de los estudiantes en un grupo pequeño o en un entorno individualizado. Nuestro objetivo es proporcionar a los estudiantes un programa positivo y orientado al éxito. Las normas de Maryland College and Career Ready y las técnicas de Diseño Universal para el Aprendizaje están integradas en todas las lecciones. KTS utiliza Intervenciones y Apoyos de Comportamiento Positivo (PBIS) para fomentar el crecimiento de los estudiantes, tanto académica como conductualmente.
